Governor Glen Youngkin Speaks At The 250th Anniversity Of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death” Speech

On March 23rd, 2025, the VA 250 Commission hosted an event in honor of the convention held at the Saint John’s Church in Richmond in response to British Royal Governor Dunmore’s decision to dissolve the House of Burgesses in Williamsburg.
After historian Ken Burns spoke, Virginia’s 74th Governor Glenn Youngkin spoke in honor of Virginia’s 1st Governor Patrick Henry who elegantly gave a speech in support of mustering militias to protest revolutionary Virginians against the British. Governor Youngkin echoed the dramatic words of Patrick Henry, “Give me liberty or give me death, where the former stated as he placed a whalebone paper cutter towards his own chest.
